Volunteer Spotlight - Berry Brixie

This month, we are delighted to feature Berry Brixie in our Volunteer Spotlight. Berry is a passionate animal lover who joined The Raptor Trust after moving to New Jersey a few years ago. She had previous experience with birds and mammals and wanted to help in any way possible. Lucky for us, The Raptor Trust was close by and we are so grateful she found us!

Berry is a valued member of our team who helps train newcomers, assists staff upstairs during migration seasons, and always lends a helping hand. She enjoys the peacefulness of being around the birds, taking care of them, hearing their sounds, and being surrounded by the beauty of the Great Swamp.

Berry’s favorite bird is one that is often overlooked: the pigeon. She wants to dispel the negative stereotypes that some people have about these infamous NYC residents being "rats with wings." She admires their individual personalities, their "inter-birdsonal" relationships, and their adorable babies.

Berry encourages everyone to do their part for our wild bird populations by putting up decals to avoid window strikes, and keeping their cats inside and their dogs on a leash. We are so grateful for all the work she does and we love her very much. Thank you, Berry, for being a part of The Raptor Trust!
