Volunteer Spotlight - Nicole Donohue

This month's “Volunteer Spotlight” is the one and only Nicole Donohue! In the past, Nicole would visit The Raptor Trust on field trips and with her family, but it wasn't until 2020 during COVID when her newly discovered interest in birds got her researching volunteering opportunities. One of our most devoted Gift Shop volunteers, Nicole greets visitors with a smile and a wealth of bird knowledge. Nicole's favorite part of being here at TRT is getting to come here after a busy work week to a relaxing environment. She loves the resident birds at TRT and knows each of their personalities.  Her favorites are Winston the Black Vulture, and Ray the Raven. Her fascination with ravens started after seeing them at the Tower of London which sparked her corvid curiosity. Most visitors say the eagles and owls are their faves, but Nicole admires the misunderstood vultures. She wants everyone to know the important environmental role that vultures play by being the sanitation workers of our world, eating carrion and keeping the environment clean. Thank you from all the staff and fellow volunteers here at TRT for your dedication to our mission, Nicole.  You can visit Nicole on Saturdays in our gift shop and chat about vultures!
