This Barred Owl was admitted to The Raptor Trust on November 6, 2024, after being found injured on the side of Rt. 287 in Somerset. The bird had suffered impact injuries to both eyes and a parasitic infection. Thanks to a kind individual who brought it to us, the owl received the critical care it desperately needed.

Our skilled rehab team, recognizing the delicate nature of the owl's eye injuries, referred it to our expert vet, Dr. Norton. Under Dr. Norton's care, the bird received advanced treatment and a carefully prescribed plan. After ten days of intensive care, the owl was moved to an outdoor enclosure, where it continued to heal and regain its strength. Several weeks later, it was moved to the large flight cage seen in the video.

The support of donors like you has been vital in providing the best care for Barred Owl #24-4465. Your generosity enables us to care for injured birds and work towards preserving their numbers, especially since Barred Owls are a threatened species in New Jersey due to habitat loss.

Thank you for being a part of this owl's recovery story. Together, we can make a difference for these magnificent creatures.
