Tufts

SHORT-EARED OWL

Tufts was originally brought in to the Tufts Wildlife Clinic in 2013 with right humeral and scapula fractures. While these fractures healed, they did not heal enough for the bird to have symmetrical, sustainable flight, and it was deemed non-releasable. The bird was transferred to the Trust in 2014 for permanent placement.

Short-eared Owls are a fairly common winter visitor in New Jersey and one of the few owls that is regularly seen during daylight hours.
